PHOENIX I TRIUMPH WIN OVER ALDERMASTON

Phoenix entertained Aldermaston at Institute Road on Saturday in a game where a plethora of tries was scored from the Phoenix team.
Sadly with the Aldermaston side arriving without a recognised front row the referee awarded Phoenix a home walk over.

From the outset Phoenix dominated the game and it took only two minutes for Phoenix to get on the scoreboard with some good line speed from outside centre Austin Leavy whose pace left the Aldermaston backs in his wake. 0-5

Phoenix at the outset gauged exactly what they wanted to do and knew how best to play the game by playing the ball wide and wasn’t long before Jason Townsend scored the first of his five tries when the ball went down the Phoenix back line. His pace and power done the rest 12-0.

Again Phoenix won good phase possession and again the ball went wide this time to the left winger Charlie Russell who again finished in style 19-0.

Phoenix was relentless with their style of plays, the forwards hammered the Aldermaston defence and the backs finishing off in style.

Phoenix were now beginning to dominate Aldermaston in every department and the tries were now coming with ease with another two from outside centre Austin Leavy , two from inside centre Nick Coventry and two from full back Bradley Coomber .

Phoenix was being clinical with their back and forward play and with a good driving maul from the forwards saw them over the Aldermaston line. A try was awarded for the ever present Neil Wincomb who had a powerful game with his big carries up the midfield.

With further tries coming from Jamie Willis, J Dean and Charlie Russell and 11 conversions from Nigel Coltman ended a good day for Phoenix 1sts. Final score being Phoenix 107- Aldermaston 3.
