Phoenix vs. Littlemore

Phoenix travelled to Littlemore on Saturday with a much changed squad from previous weeks but were still confident with the squad they had would bring back the win.

From the outset of the game Phoenix were on the back foot with some strong phases from Littlemore, who until yesterday had not lost at home, but with the defence strong Phoenix could not be broken down with both sides searched for the opening.
It was Littlemore who finally broke the deadlock when a play from the Littlemore back line saw there centre cross for the opening try everyone was stunned after some good line speed from Phoenix forced the centre to blatantly knock the ball on but the referee awarded the try 0-7.

It was all Littlemore as they kept driving at Phoenix and it was not long before the referee had awarded Littlemore yet another penalty within striking distance of the Phoenix posts and the full back converted 10-0.

With the first half close to finishing Phoenix rallied to push for a score ,and with a good weaving run from the Phoenix full back Bradley Coomber found his way over for their opening try 10 -5

With the wind and slop in their favour in the second half Phoenix began to push for a second try and some good ground being made through the forwards and backs it was not long before the space opened up and the ball went wide to the Right winger Charlie Russell who powered for the line and driving through two tacklers finished a well taken try (10-10)

Time and the light was running out for Phoenix with the referee calling 10 minutes the fear was the referee would call it early for the bad light so it was do or die for the Phoenix as they drove time and again at the line with Littlemore giving away penalties one after another.
A decision from the referee saw a penalty ten yards out and some quick thinking from Captain Tom Porter saw him cross unopposed and Phoenix get the win they deserved 10-17.
