"Unstoppable Phoenix"

Phoenix entertained Didcot at their Institute Road ground, Phoenix who had won the league and Didcot who were runners up was going to be billed as a very entertaining game.

Phoenix with a big supporting crowd urged there team on from the very start of the game and Phoenix were determined to give their supports a game to remember.

From the Kick off Phoenix was straight on the attack with some strong running from both backs and forwards, from a drive through the forwards Phoenix were awarded a penalty from a Didcot forward not rolling away 3-0.

From the restart Phoenix were again on the attack again through some good work from the forwards , a pick and drive from tight head prop S Flynn battled hard to get to the line and his strength and determination done the rest , the conversation from J Townsend put Phoenix into a 10 point lead .

Phoenix were beginning to dominate the Didcot side as they were relentless in there play and it was not long before they had scored again when full back A Leavy came into the line and his pace took him over for the second 15-0.

Didcot had to up their game and some good play from there centre set up the first try with a jinking run that allowed him to break the line and run in unopposed. 15.7.

Didcot now where beginning to get there tails up and started putting some good phase play together and it was not long before they got themselves back into the game when the big second row hit the line and forced his way over to put them back into the game 15-14
It was now Phoenix who needed to get some continuity back into their game and again it was not long before the impressive full back A Leavy crossed for his second 20-14.

Didcot were not going to lie down easily but it was Phoenix who got the bonus point try through full back Leavy, he again hit the line at pace and cruised through the Didcot back line and although he was tackled on the line he still managed to get the ball down and with the conversation by Townsend saw Phoenix gain a little breathing space 27-14.

Didcot again came at Phoenix with some phase play through there big forwards and this time it was Phoenix who were penalised for not rolling away with the kick successful again brought them back into the game 27-17.

It was Phoenix who had the final play and a strong run from winger N Coventry saw him power his way over the line 32-17.
